Michael Heralda's Aztec Stories

Be prepared to have your students experience the wondrous world of the Mexica/Aztecs in an engaging and intimate performance/presentation utilizing ancient poetry, oral tradition stories, ballads and numerous indigenous-styled instrument.  Throughout this educational presention,students will learn about the history, culture, arts, ceremonies, and traditions of the Mexica/Aztecs from the indigenous perspective.

Programs

In Xochitl, In Kuikatl/ Flower & Song           Suggested grade level:  K-8

A musical presentation that is interactive, educational, and cultural. Students and audience members have the opportunity to participate in the program playing indigenous handmade instruments as well as singing songs in Nahuatl - the language of the Mexica/Aztecs. Students can also ask questions based on the program they experience. All the instruments will be explained and demonstrated. Many of the instruments Michael has created have unique stories pertaining to their design and development . Students will come away with the understanding that musical instruments can easily be made from simple elements within their own environment -such as the one's Michael has created. "Aztec Stories" is best described as "Edutainment" in the truest sense of the word.
